Nursery and Reception
Girls enter the Nursery in the term after their third birthday, following an informal assessment with one of the Nursery teachers. This can either be in September or January. All girls in the Nursery then automatically transfer into a Reception class.
In Reception (age 4+), there are more opportunities for the girls to develop their social and emotional skills, their language and communication and creative development.
In both Nursery and Reception, the emphasis is on learning through play, enabling the girls to develop their literacy and numeracy skills so that they are well prepared for Years 1 and 2. The curriculum is structured and a great emphasis is placed on reading and writing. In addition, the girls enjoy a weekly Music lesson with a Music specialist, and a weekly Ballet lesson, again taught by experienced Ballet staff. In Reception the girls are taught PE with specialised staff and enjoy a weekly swimming lesson.
We also believe in the importance of developing the girls' social skills at this early age, learning to show consideration for others, sharing and kindness.
