Accessing your Shared Folders from home

It is possible to access most resources from home just as you would in school - for both students and staff. 

To set up this access from home, you must add a 'Network Place' in the Windows 'My Network Places'

In Windows 7 and Vista, you can still do this only you have to go to My Computer and then Map a Network Drive.

 

For Staff who want to access the Staff Only folder - RMStaff - click here

Students and Staff

To add a network place for the RM Shared Documents folder, please do the following.

1. Go to My Network Places

2. Click on Add a network place   and you should see 'Welcome to the Add Network Place Wizard.

3. Click Next

4. Click on the pictures of the folder 'Choose another network location'

5. Click Next again

6. Type the Internet address as shown below

7. Click Next and you will be asked for your User Name and Password. Please enter these.

8. Next you will have to give this Network Place a meaningful name as shown below

9. Click Finish

 

 
Staff Folders

Repeat the steps shown above, only instead the address of the network place is shown below. This will give you access to departmental resources. Please remember this only works with Internet Explorer.
