Lower SchoolYears 7, 8 and 9 - For girls aged 11 to 14 yearsThe first three years in Senior School, Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 are known as Lower School.Their form rooms are situated in a building known for historical reasons as The Manor. Girls in Lower School have access to a wide academic curriculum. In the first year the girls are taught in forms (maximum number of 24), but for practical subjects the girls are in smaller groups. In Year 8 the girls are placed in divisions for French and Mathematics and in Year 9 in Sciences. The girls follow a pupil care programme suited to the needs of each individual year group, which encompasses Personal, Social and Health Education, as well as Citizenship. The Year 8 girls have a Citizens' Day in the spring term and a residential trip to York. At the end of Year 9 the girls have a special three day course in Personal and Social Responsibilities.
