Opening of Bluebelle House
22nd February 2012
On Tuesday 21 February 2012, we held a special event for our girls, parents, governors and staff for the renaming of Bluebelle House (formerly the Early Years Centre).
Our Bluebelles performed a wonderful medley of 'Bluebelle' inspired songs, composed and directed by Dr Roche, before our special guest, The Worshipful the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Mary O'Connor MBE, unveiled a plaque in Bluebelle House to mark the occasion.
Bluebelle House, which houses both Nursery and Reception classes, was purpose built in 2009, specifically for Early Year's education. The emphasis is on 'learning through play', enabling the girls to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. Our friendly and caring staff understand the girls' needs and are sympathetic in their approach, particularly to those for whom it may be the first time they have spent time away from home. Girls can join the Nursery in the term after their third birthday. This can either be in September, January or April. Flexible hours are available including full and half day sessions.
Mrs Hina Thaker, Head Mistress of the Junior School said: "We are very proud of our innovative, modern and purpose built Early Years Centre. The bright well equipped classrooms and extensive outdoor play areas provide a perfect, safe and stimulating area for our girls to develop both academically and physically. With this in mind, we have decided to rename the building 'Bluebelle House'. We feel this new name reflects the warm and friendly atmosphere created in the building by both the staff and the girls, as well as providing a fitting link to our smart Northwood College Blue uniforms."
