Bursaries and Scholarships

BURSARIES

A number of means-tested bursaries are available for girls joining Northwood College Senior School. Parents interested in being considered for one of these bursaries should contact the  Bursar's PA by 30th November 2009 to obtain the relevant forms. The value of the bursary is related to income and financial resources. The maximum value of a bursary is full fees. Parents will still have to pay for travel to and from school, uniform and examination fees.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Academic
A number of academic scholarships are available for girls joining Northwood College Senior School Year 7 and the Sixth Form. At Year 7, (11+) the College uses the North London Independent Girls' Schools Consortium examination as part of its assessment together with an interview and a school reference.  At the Sixth Form (16+), scholarships are awarded following the publication of GCSE results.

A number of scholarships for other subjects including Art and Design, Sport and Music may also be available for girls joining Year 7.

Music
Auditions include performance of two contrasting pieces on main instrument (minimum standard Grade 4) and one piece on second instrument, sight reading on main instrument, aural tests and viva voce. Candidates need not have taken Grade 4 and those who consider they can perform at this level should consider applying.  There will be no written music papers. Potential of a candidate will be considered as well as achievement. Successful candidates will be expected to take a full and active part in the musical life of the College and to continue to make satisfactory progress.

Art and Design/Sport
A candidate's potential will be considered as well as achievement. Assessment will be based partly on school references and partly on performance in an activity.
