Careers Advice
Careers Education and Guidance at Northwood College is designed to prepare girls for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life by:
- Delivering a progressive programme of careers related activities in Years 7-13 which helps girls to understand themselves and the influences on them.
- Supporting the College's pastoral and Thinking Skills programmes in the development of lifelong learning and evaluation skills.
- Helping girls to develop the knowledge and skills they need to make successful choices, along with the ability to use these to manage transitions in learning, at school, or when moving into Higher Education or work.
- Encouraging girls to investigate opportunities in learning and work by using a range of information sources and choosing those most relevant to their personal needs. The well-stocked and up to date Careers Library allows girls to access software such as Kudos and Higher Ideas, as well as a full range of books, magazines, university prospectuses and careers information leaflets.
- Ensuring girls have knowledge and understanding of the world of work by encouraging participation in work related activities such as Work Experience, Business Enterprise Days, Careers Fairs and talks given by representatives from a wide range of career areas.
- Our full-time Head of Careers co-ordinates the Careers Education and Guidance programmes across the school, working closely with tutors and Heads of Year and conducting group sessions and individual interviews with students.
