The College wishes to encourage the girls to develop their interpersonal skills, raise their awareness of the needs of others within the community of the College.
Community Service
The College wishes to encourage the girls to develop their interpersonal skills, raise their awareness of the needs of others within the community of the College, and to widen their outlook beyond the confines of the site. The girls should be able to perform any service which will increase their self-esteem and strengthen their character thus leaving the College with a sense of responsibility towards the society in which they live.
Some examples are listed blow.
Play Rehearsals
The older residents of Northwood, both in nursing homes and in private residences are invited to see the play and have afternoon tea. The girls in the play act as hostesses.
Carol Singing at Pocklington House
Some Year 7 and Sixth Form girls go for an afternoon to sing with the residents who are mainly visually impaired.
Duke of Edinburgh's Award
For girls aged 14 +, opportunities will be provided if they require assistance to complete their Service section.
Upper School
Year 10 and 11 regularly help out in our Early Years Centre and in the Junior school. Also, via the 'Live at Home' scheme.
Sixth Form
There is a need to provide a varied programme of service, both in the College and outside ensuring that the girls are able to cope with more commitment and develop their independence.
