Pupil Wellbeing
Our approach to pupil wellbeing rests on the firm belief that girls achieve their best when they are happy. We look after the whole person in school life, helping girls stay healthy in body, mind and spirit. This means we celebrate success in all its forms and encourage our girls to strive to be better, but also support them through life's inevitable setbacks or failures. Our caring approach helps girls develop a strong sense of self-esteem and responsibility towards themselves and others and the wider world around them. It is part of the moral compass we want them to have.
Each form has one designated lesson per week but pupil wellbeing issues are dealt with throughout the school day, not necessarily in lesson time. Pupil wellbeing lessons take the form of discussions, debates and circle time. Each form has a designated Citizenship/PSHE lesson per week. These lessons take the form of discussions, debates role play and circle time.
Our Aim is to:
• to develop a sense of social responsibility and concern for others
• to encourage pupils to think for themselves and reach considered decisions
• to promote self discipline and independence, bearing in mind the needs of others
• to widen girls' horizons and educate them on social issues which are not covered
elsewhere in the curriculum
• to provide opportunities for developing interpersonal and organisational skills
• to improve study skills and enable pupils to reach their full potential
• to prepare pupils for future decisions and choices.
