Geography is taught in two dedicated classrooms, both of which are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Our aim is to encourage an interest in and understanding of our surroundings on a local, national and global scale.

Geography is taught in two dedicated classrooms, both of which are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Our aim is to encourage an interest in and understanding of our surroundings on a local, national and global scale.All topics include elements of Thinking Skills, Geographical Skills and topic content. Fieldwork is an integral part of learning and pupils will take part in several trips during their studies.


In Year 7, topics studied are: Transition Topic, Atlas Skills, Map Reading Skills, Weather and Climate and River Systems. All Year 7 pupils take part in a field trip to River Tillingbourne to study rivers.

In Year 8, topics covered include: Mountains, Energy, Industry and the Environment, Brazil and Ecosystems. All Year 8 pupils visit Amersham Field Centre to study Woodland Ecosystems.

In Year 9, topics covered include: Hazards, Tourism and a fieldwork research project following a field trip to Windsor to investigate land use, tourism and its management. The GCSE course is AQA Specification 'A'.

In Year 10, we cover Tectonic activity, Rivers and Coasts. There is a GCSE module sat in the Summer of Year 10.

In Year 11, girls study Population, Migration and Tourism. In Year 11 the students attend a residential field trip at Juniper Hall and use these skills to complete their controlled assessments in the Autumn Term.


We follow the AQA 'A' Specification for AS and A2 Level. This involves the study of separate Physical and Human topics including at AS Level: Rivers, Floods and their Management, Coastal Environments, Population Change, Health Issues and at A2: Tectonics, Ecosystems and Globalisation and Development. Pupils attend a field trip to help prepare for the Geographical Skills and Fieldwork Investigation papers at AS and A2 Level.

Extra Curricular - Geography Club

Description of Activity Building models and filming stop motion movies. Using Google Earth, watching geographical movies and clips. Discussion. Looking at interesting photos and maps. Revision activities.
