ICT

ICT is the subject that takes you into the future. Students learn how to use a variety of leading technologies and how to make best use of ICT in their other subjects.

In Years 7, 8 and 9, girls are taught Microsoft Office skills as a foundation for their other subjects. Additionally, web design, animation, film editing and game design all form the core of our curriculum; all girls are expected to work both on solo and collaborative projects. ICT is also used throughout the curriculum and students get many opportunities such as using iMovie and Garage Band in Music or data logging in Science.

A full GCSE, teaching a range of modern applications of ICT, is available. 60% of the assessment comes from practical exercises completed in class time. 40% come from a terminal exam. Common tasks include website design, interactive multimedia presentations and budgeting with spreadsheets.

ICT is also offered at AS/A2 level. The facilities offered by the College are modern and spacious. Six ICT suites that are used to teach ICT as a discrete subject, but can also be booked by teachers of other subjects when appropriate. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and has high speed Internet access. All students enjoy a high level of remote access to the work and IT resources.
