The Art and Design Department aims to create an environment where
pupils from Years 7 to 13 can create and develop their individual
artistic skills in an atmosphere that is fun, industrious and enjoyable.
-
The Department boasts a range of resources including digital
cameras, scanners and computer software including Photoshop. The
library stocks a large collection of art books.
-
We offer the unendorsed GCSE art which enables the pupils to
work in two and three dimensions using a wide range of specialist
materials and techniques. This includes traditional drawing and
painting using the latest technology, digital cameras and Photoshop
software.
-
At AS level, pupils have a choice of either Fine Art or Graphic
Design. They work on coursework throughout the year and have a
final examination. All of their work is then exhibited in our annual
summer exhibition where parents, pupils, friends and staff are
invited to attend.
-
After A Level, many pupils go on to do a Foundation Course at
highly regarded colleges, including St. Martins, Chelsea, Goldsmiths
and Camberwell.
-
Being so close to London galleries and museums, we are able to
take each year group on an art trip to see and experience work
first hand. We also take Sixth Form on an intensive art trip abroad
for four days in the October half term. Last year we went to Barcelona
and this year to Venice.
-
Pupils are encouraged to enter external competitions as well
as participate in the House Art competition. There are several
art clubs during lunchtimes and after school.
-
Throughout the school we have work by the pupils on display,
some examples of which feature here.
