Careers Department
Careers Education and Guidance at Northwood College is designed to
prepare girls for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences
of life by:
-
delivering a progressive programme of careers related activities
in Years 7-13 which helps girls to understand themselves and the
influences on them.
-
supporting the College’s pupil care programme in the development
of lifelong learning and evaluation skills through the use of Progress
File, which allows girls to build up a portfolio of experiences
and achievements.
-
helping girls to develop the knowledge and skills they need to
make successful choices, along with the ability to use these to
manage transitions in learning, at school, or when moving into
Higher Education or work.
-
encouraging girls to investigate opportunities in learning and
work by using a range of information sources and choosing those
most relevant to their personal needs. The well-stocked and up
to date Careers Library allows girls to access software such as
Kudos, Keyclips and Higher Ideas, as well as a full range of books,
magazines, university prospectuses and careers information leaflets.
-
ensuring girls have knowledge and understanding of the world of
work by encouraging participation in work related activities such
as Work Experience, ‘Take our Daughters to Work Day’,
Business Enterprise Days and talks given by representatives from
a wide range of career areas.
