Senior School - Classics Department
Welcome to the Classics Department!
Minimus Course
-
Girls begin their study of the classical world with Latin in
Year 4, using the Minimus course.
-
There is also an opportunity to join a Junior Classical Drama
Club.
Classical Studies throughout the Senior School
-
Year 7: students receive an introduction to Classical Civilisation
in their Skills education in order to enhance their awareness of
the ancient world.
-
Year 8: they start Latin afresh with the Cambridge Latin Course,
which has a lively approach to the language and includes background
on Roman life and culture.
-
Year 9: we offer a combined course in Latin and Classical Civilisation
so that pupils are prepared for their GCSE choices.
-
Latin and Classical Civilisation are both offered at GCSE and
A level. We enliven our teaching through use of Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) and visits to the theatre, museums
and sites both in Britain and abroad.

-
