We aim to foster enjoyment for language learning, develop creativity
through languages and encourage initiative and independence.

Every girl has the opportunity of studying two modern languages
from Year 6 to A Level. In Year 7, there is a free choice of any
two languages.

3 lessons per week in each modern language in Years 7, 8, and
9.

4 lessons per week in each modern language in Years 10 and 11.

Conversation classes with native speakers take place in Years
10, 11, 12 and 13.

Each language room is equipped with audio-visual facilities and
the Department is supported by whiteboard and Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) technology.

Our modern courses offer opportunities for practice in the four
skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

By the end of Key Stage 3, pupils have attained Foundation GCSE
level.

Our Examination results are excellent -2005 79% A* and A in GCSE

( OCR), 80% A Level ( EDEXCEL)

Extra-curricular activities in school include clubs, competitions,
plays and special language days.

In 2004-2005, girls visited Boulogne, Lille, Barcelona and Berlin
and A Level students have undertaken work experience abroad.
